Sitting up straight, chin raised, forehead folded into a stack of soft wrinkles and a slightly worried look in its eyes. This bulldog puppy is carved by hand from a single block of African Padauk, and every fold of loose skin, from the brow to the rolls down its back, is shaped with a chisel. Owners of wrinkly breeds, from bulldogs to Shar Peis, tend to recognise their own dog in it straight away.
🌿 Meaning & Symbolism
- The dog is the classic symbol of loyalty, protection and unconditional friendship. A seated dog, alert and calm, is traditionally placed near the entrance or on a desk as a quiet guardian of the home.
- In feng shui and East Asian tradition the dog brings faithfulness, safety and good friendships, and makes a lucky piece for anyone born in the Year of the Dog (1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018).
🪵 The Wood & The Craft
- Carved from solid African Padauk, a dense tropical hardwood, then finished by hand in a deep chocolate brown, darker on the muzzle and paws, with the wood grain still showing through.
- Carved 100% by hand by family artisans in Thuong Tin district, Hanoi. No CNC. Look at the dotted whisker pads on the muzzle, the folded ears and the rolls of skin across the back: each one is cut by hand.
- Smooth matte finish that feels warm in the hand. Every puppy is slightly different in tone and grain.
