Product Description
Product Description
Hand-carved Sukhothai Buddha in solid Padauk wood. Before the furniture, before the noise, start with a piece that already knows how to be quiet.
🌿 What Does This Buddha's Hand Position Mean?
This figure sits in Dhyana Mudra — the meditation gesture. Both hands rest open in the lap, right palm resting on left, thumbs meeting to form a quiet triangle. In Buddhist tradition, it symbolizes deep concentration and the settling of a restless mind.
Above the crown, a slender flame-shaped finial (Ketumala) rises instead of a plain topknot — traditionally read as awakened energy still in motion, not a stillness that has gone cold.
🌿 What Wood Is This Buddha Statue Carved From?
This piece is carved from a single block of solid Padauk — a dense, richly grained hardwood valued across Southeast Asia for its strength and its color. Fresh-cut, the wood shows a warm red-orange tone; over months and years in your home, it settles into a deeper amber-brown.
Each statue is shaped entirely by hand by family artisans in Thuong Tin, Hanoi — no CNC, no mass mold. No two pieces are ever perfectly identical.
🎁 Is This a Good Housewarming or Meaningful Gift?
Yes — this is often chosen as a first piece for a new home, or for someone easing out of a hard season and looking to reset.

FAQs
FAQs
✦ That weight confirms solid wood carved from a single dense block of Padauk — not a hollow shell or resin cast.
❓ What's the difference between the base options?
✦ The Extended Altar Base leaves room for an incense holder or mala. The Square Base suits minimalist spaces. The Sacred lotus bases are more elaborate, suited to a proper home altar.
❓ Does solid Padauk need special care?
✦ Dust with a soft, dry cloth and keep away from direct sunlight and heating vents. Minor surface checking from humidity changes is normal wood movement, not a defect.
