FAQs

❓ Why does Scented Cypress wood change color and become shinier over time?
✦ This is natural — and desirable. As the wood's inherent oils move to the surface and react with light and air over time, the grain deepens in color and develops a soft, living luster. In the Wabi-Sabi tradition, this change is the mark of an heirloom: the piece is not aging, it is maturing alongside you.
❓ What does the Dhyana Mudra meditation pose actually mean?
✦ Dhyana Mudra — hands resting open in the lap, right over left, thumbs forming a triangle — is the gesture of deep meditation and inner balance. The triangle symbolizes the spiritual flame that burns away distraction and confusion. It is associated with the moment of the Buddha's awakening under the Bodhi Tree: a stillness so complete that nothing could disturb it.
❓ Is it respectful to place a Buddha statue on my office desk?
✦ Yes — placing a Buddha figure on your desk (ideally slightly elevated and on the left side as you face it) is considered entirely appropriate in modern mindfulness and Buddhist home practice. It functions as a visual anchor: a reminder, between meetings and deadlines, that stillness is available. Keep the surrounding area tidy and the statue at or above eye level when seated.
❓ How can I reactivate the natural scent of the wood?
✦ The fragrance lives inside the wood fibers. If it softens over time, gently wipe the statue with a warm, damp microfiber cloth — this opens the wood's pores and releases a fresh wave of the natural cypress scent. You can also lightly sand the underside of the base with fine sandpaper (600–1000 grit) for the same effect. No oils or sprays needed.
❓ Is this statue really hand-carved — not machine-made?
✦ Entirely by hand. Each piece is carved by artisan families in a traditional woodcarving village in Hanoi, Vietnam — no CNC machines, no molds. The slightly organic texture you may notice in close-up photos is not a flaw; it is the fingerprint of handwork. No two statues are identical.

I love my wooden Buddha. I wanted a small sized Buddha, and this is true to the description. It had a very nice strong scent when first opened which has decreased but can still be detected if held to your nose. I like that it is hand carved. The wrist bracelet mala beads are lovely also, although quite a snug fit. The seller Lily was good with communication when I had some queries, however the UK carrier was very slow to deliver. All in all I am happy with my purchase.

Communication from LiLy was excellent and the Buddha statue is beautiful. The workmanship is high quality and I can recommend the statue - I am so pleased to have one. The performance of the UK carrier was disappointing but that wasn't the fault of the vendor.

This buddha statue is so beautifully made and Is reassuring knowing it has come from a company with good values. Lily the seller is extremely lovely.

Beautiful Buddha. Exquisite craftsmanship. Thank you so much.

Beautiful piece of hand crafted art. Lily communicated very well and answered all my questions. Highly recommend.

Excellent craftsmanship. The beauty of the Nirvana Shakyamuni sculpture surpassed the photograph on the website. The base recommended for it is a 'must have' add on. The customer service is also first class. I will continue to utilize this shop to help build my meditation room. Jan

The Buddha statue is beautiful, and the detailed carving is exquisite. The statue arrived fairly quickly, and was well packaged. I would definitely order again. The seller is an excellent communicator.

Lovely piece to make my home now beautiful

Blown away with the quality of carving, had a beautiful soft energy was just what I was looking for. Thank-you so much.

My Buddha statue is even more beautiful on my altar than it looks in the pictures.

Beautiful wooden Buddha, hard to find in this quality. It's a pleasure to support the artisans and carry on the tradition.

Perfect for my display cabinet. The Buddha's facial expression is serene, exactly as I wanted.

I just received the statue and I'm thrilled with it! It was a real struggle to get through all the plastic packaging at first. Why so much? And the statue is made of wood, so it's not like it'll break or anything. Such a shame for the environment!! I hope you change that. There's no need for plastic around the cardboard box either! The customer service is very good and responds quickly. And now I'm going to find a nice place for this beautiful statue. Very nice carving. I'm so happy with it!
