🌿 The Posture & Its Meaning

🪵 The Wood & The Craft
Afzelia is not a soft, easy wood — it's dense, hard, and naturally resistant to rot and insect damage, which is part of why it's historically been used for flooring, fine furniture, and pieces meant to be handed down rather than replaced. Its heartwood carries a reddish-brown tone that deepens with age and handling, and it's often praised for taking a high, glossy finish once carved and sanded. Each statue is carved by hand, so grain pattern and color will vary slightly piece to piece — a mark of the individual block of wood, not an inconsistency.
